During my early childhood experiences with nature in the Karoo; the firmament of the night sky as well as the beaches of South Africa, I developed a strong kinship with nature and the diversity of the universe. Patterns and the interaction of forms, light and colours intrigued me since I was a child and I felt content in my métier when sketching and painting.
During my early childhood experiences with nature in the Karoo; the firmament of the night sky as well as the beaches of South Africa, I developed a strong kinship with nature and the diversity of the universe. Patterns and the interaction of forms, light and colours intrigued me since I was a child and I felt content in my métier when sketching and painting.
I usually take photos of landscapes, indescribable moments and then record the sentiments as memories for the painting process. I use soft colours with subtle contrasts as well as bold colours, not always mixing the paint; sometimes blending loose and gestural. It can also be structured or even rigid- recalling in memory, the fleeting moments of images to create a painting depicting the visual impressio.
